Manufacturing Engineer (Automation & Launch)

Mechanical Engineer for Process Automation Programs and Product/Process Launch Management for an International Fortune 500 manufacturer who is the leader in their filed.
The position is stationed near Burlington, IA but will also report to R&D in Michigan.
This Engineer will be responsible for complete process automation programs, product / process launch management.
Management of projects from definition and business case development through process and equipment development, production commissioning and support to the global manufacturing facilities.
In this position, the Engineer fills the role of working with the Application & Product Engineering Groups and manufacturing facilities to develop processes and equipment to support product manufacturing and launch of products in production.
Candidates are required to have manufacturing equipment development experience as well as practical mechanical aptitude.
Develop process, quality, and machine performance specifications for new equipment to support manufacturing of ignition components.
Develop equipment process and tooling designs by researching, analyzing, preparing sketches, drawings, evaluating components, materials and suppliers; identifying and resolving design and manufacturability issues.
Develop equipment layout designs to support new processes and improve existing processes.
Coordinate the implementation of new process technology.
Support and lead the launch of new products into the global manufacturing plants.
Monitor, analyze, and evaluate test data in conjunction with new process trials.
Recommend capital expenditures for the specification of new equipment and processes and prepare concise summaries / technical reports for project and process reviews.
Develop and implement projects to enhance existing process technology to improve quality and reduce manufacturing cost.
Maintain current process standards and develop new standards for emerging process technology.
Promote global manufacturing 'Best Practices' within the global Ignition Group.
Travel globally to provide on site process engineering support the manufacturing locations and product launches.
Concurrently work on multiple projects with multiple sites.
Qualifications BS degree in Mechanical Engineering / Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.
3 plus years relevant engineering experience.
New product / process launch experience.
Experience and willingness to travel globally up to 20% of the time to provide onsite process engineering support and OE launch support to the manufacturing locations.
Travel increments could be up to (4) weeks.
Experience in mechanical machine design, development and manufacturing automation equipment.
Candidate must be prepared to present detailed information and descriptions of prior work and project experience.
Experience designing with 2D CAD and 3D parametric solid modeling software.
Strong mechanical aptitude relating to complex components.
Electrical and machine control systems programming experience a plus.
