Quality Engineer


Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in inspecting the final quality of components and finished products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides direct Quality Engineering support to assigned programs. Plans and executes innovative, problem and defect prevention/process improvement methods. Applies statistics to problem solving and reports. Applies knowledge of military and other technical specifications to prevent, correct and resolve quality related problems with suppliers of purchased materials, customer and/or government supplied materials.
Prepares plans, executes projects, and delivers reports for quality engineering projects which are required for proper implementation and incorporation of quality into related programs. Responsible for all First Article Testing and product inspection for supplied parts and ammunition items in assigned programs.
Prepares required reports and assures appropriate supporting records are maintained.
Will have no more than 6 direct reports, ie Quality Supervisors, Quality Technicians, Inspectors.
Some key relationships will be: Safety Engineers, Customers, Gage and Chem Labs, Maintenance Staff, Customer Auditors, Production Management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough understanding of safe operating procedures and ability to communicate same to employees and hold them accountable to following them.
Effective communication skills that enable cross disciplinary team building and effective solicitation of necessary support to keep the line running.
Problem solving skills focused on solutions and involving all ideas from all employees.
Knowledge of known biases and ability to set them aside as they consistently implement all company policies.
Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree from four year college or university preferably in Quality Control Engineering.
Seven years related Quality experience
Understands and posses the ability to design tests, test procedures and fixtures.
Microsoft Office Suite, Minitab, SAP
Ability to lift objects more than 25 lbs.
